Treatment Planning
Once a cancer diagnosis is confirmed, the next step is treatment planning. This involves determining the extent (stage) of the cancer and its characteristics to select the most effective therapies.
Staging often requires additional imaging and laboratory tests to assess the size of the tumor and whether it has spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body.
Treatment plans are personalized and typically developed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists.
The plan may include one or more modalities, such as surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or targeted therapy, tailored to the specific type and stage of cancer.
