Radiation Therapy
Radiation therapy uses high-energy X-rays or other types of radiation to damage the DNA of cancer cells, destroying their ability to divide and grow.
The body then naturally eliminates these damaged cells. More than half of all cancer patients receive radiation therapy as part of their treatment.
It can be used to cure cancer, to relieve pain, or to ease other cancer-related symptoms.
Advanced techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), allow doctors to deliver precise, high doses of radiation to tumors while minimizing exposure and damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
