Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy is a specialized form of radiation therapy that involves the precise placement of radioactive sources directly inside the body, either into or very close to a tumor.

This technique delivers a highly conformal dose of radiation to the cancer while significantly reducing radiation exposure to surrounding normal organs. Brachytherapy is used in both curative and palliative settings for a wide range of cancers, including prostate, uterine, cervical, and breast cancer.

Treatment may be temporary (radioactive sources are removed after a specific time) or permanent (small radioactive seeds are left in place to gradually lose their radioactivity).
